NHR Racing Team to use round 3 of the DSK Series as a drop race
As a part of the DSK series regulations, a driver will have to drop his worst points results of the season. This drop of points will be taken into account when the championship points are finalized at the end of the season. NHR Racing Team has decided to use the third race of the DSK Series as a drop race. By not participating in the race, that race will count as Nicklas Rasmussen’s points drop.
This decision has been made based strategic and financial reasons.
The next race that NHR Racing Team will participate in will be the DIF Danish National Championship in August

Race Report: 2018 DSK Series - Round 2
NHR Racing Team competed in the second round of the DSK Series in the KZ2 class at Barmosen Karting Track. It was a challenging weekend with limited running leading up to the official sessions. Despite progressively improving throughout the event, the team was involved in a collision in the finale and retired a few laps later due to the damage from the incident.
Friday Practice Day:
During the Friday Practice day, the team tested out some new parts and got some positive results. However, it was a difficult day where the team and driver Nicklas Rasmussen struggled to find the balance and pace in the kart. Most of the day was spend on finding a solution to the handling issues but the team ran out of session time before any real solution could be found.
Saturday- Qualification heat 1 and 2:
During the morning worm up sessions the team tried out some ideas to help with the handling issues and made some changes that had a positive effect. In qualifying it was the first time we got new tires on the kart. Due to this and the new setup approach there was a lot of unknowns and it was a difficult session where Nicklas qualified in P8 out of 10 drivers. In the first qualification heat, Nicklas had a solid race where he after a decent start was in P9. After a few laps there was an incident ahead of Nicklas that he avoided and he moved up to P6. That place he would keep all the way to the end of the heat. In the second qualification heat Nicklas would get a good start. The first lap would turn out to be very chaotic but Nicklas stayed clear of all the incidents and at the end of the first lap he had moved his way all the way up to P3. However, the pace was not good enough to keep that place and at the end of the heat Nicklas would finish in a strong P5.
Sunday - Qualification heat 3:
In the third and final qualification heat. Nicklas would start from P5. Nicklas got a good start and after a few laps Nicklas would get around some drivers who where fighting for position and would get all the way up to a stunning P2 on the track. Unfortunately, the pace of the kart would drop off very soon after and Nicklas would drop down to P7 at the end of the heat.
Sunday - Pre-Finale:
The results of the qualification heats would have Nicklas starting the Pre-Finale from P7. At the very start of the race Nicklas would be unlucky as he reacted well to the starting lights, but drivers ahead did not get such a good start and Nicklas would get hit by another driver who took evasive action and have his nosecone knocked in. Having the nosecone knocked in gives a driver an automatic 10 second penalty and despite Nicklas enjoying the improved the pace of the kart during the heat, the penalty would put Nicklas down in P10 and last at the end of the heat.
Sunday - Finale:
Nicklas had to start in P10 and last for the finale. The team got new tires on the kart to get maximum grip. Nicklas got off to a good start and moved his way up to P8 in the early part of the heat. Finally, the pace that the team had started to unluck during the weekend would have a chance to pay off. However soon after Nicklas got pushed heavily off the track by another driver who tried to overtake him. The kart was fortunately able to keep going and Nicklas rejoined the race but now he had a lot of work to do to try and make up the time and position lost. But Nicklas never even got the chance to try and recover because a few laps after the collision the rear bumper of kart would come loose due to the previous impact, and that would cause Nicklas to have to retire from the race.
Nicklas Rasmussen - KZ2 Race driver:
What a disappointing end to the weekend. After struggling during Friday practice and a difficult qualifying we would stay out the chaos that other peoples caused, and we would get some soiled finishes on Saturday. During the pre-finale our race was over quickly due to the nosecone penalty, nothing we could have done there to avoid that but at least we had found some good pace in the kart at that point. In the finale there was a good chance to get a solid result, but that chance was destroyed when I got taken out by a competitor, and we retired from the race due to damage from that collision. It is very difficult to hide my disappointment right now, but I am sure that when I look back at this weekend in a few days’ time I will be able to look at all the positives that I know we can take away from this weekend.

Preview: 2018 DSK Series – Round 2 / 5
After a strong weekend last month at the first DSK event of the year, it is now time for the second round of the championship at Barmosen Karting Track. The team is heading to Barmosen with a fresh boost of motivation, but we also know that there is a lot of hard work ahead of us.
Nicklas Rasmussen – KZ2 Race driver:
The track in Barmosen is a fun place to race. For us in the KZ2 category some places on the track can sometimes feel a little slow and narrow. However, it is always a place that I have enjoyed racing at. We are obviously going to try and build of some of the momentum from the last race at Vojens but we are also very much aware that the competition in this category is very strong and that we as a small team will face a difficult task.

Race Report: 2018 DSK Series - Round 1
NHR Racing Team competed in the first round of the DSK Series in the KZ2 class at Vojens Karting Track. This weekend was always going to be a big challenge for us. Our driver Nicklas Rasmussen had no previous experience at the track, and due to budget limitations we had completed very limited pre-season testing before the race. Despite some early difficulties we had a strong weekend, were we managed to exceed our expectations.
Friday Practice Day:
NHR Racing team arrived late at the track and missed the first practice session. For our driver Nicklas Rasmussen it was a big learning curve with no track experience and no fresh tires at available due to budget limitations . Despite this we had a solid day with our main focus on long runs. The final practice session of the day was however cut short for us by a minor mechanical issue.
Saturday- Qualification heat 1 and 2:
In qualifying it was the first time we got new tires on the kart. Due to this there was a lot of unknowns and it was a difficult session. Nicklas qualified in P20 out of 24 drivers. In the first qualification heat, Nicklas had a solid race where we advanced a little and got to the finish line in P17. In the second qualification heat Nicklas had to take evasive action on the first lap due to an incident before turn one, that meant he had to work his way up again from the rear end of the field. However the pace had now improved and Nicklas got to the finish in a solid P14.
Sunday - Qualification heat 3:
Overnight rain meant that the track damp for the third and final qualification heat. Once again we were on the back foot with no experience in the wet expect for the worm-up session earlier in the day. However in the race the pace was very good. After a very intense race Nicklas advanced through the field and got to the finish in a strong P8.
Sunday - Pre Finale:
Nicklas started P12 I got off to a great start and was running in P7 in the early part of the race. Unfortunately the pace was not as good as we had hoped and Nicklas dropped down to P11 at the end of the race. That meant that we had to start the finale from that position.
Sunday - Finale:
For the finale we got new tires on the kart to get maximum grip. Nicklas got of to a good start and moved his way up to P9. Through the first part of the race the pace was very good and he was able to keep up with the group that was right ahead of him. However it did not last as the tires had a little too much pressure in them. However Nicklas was able to manage the gap to the drivers behind me for the rest of the race and bring home a strong P9 finish!
Nicklas Rasmussen - KZ2 Race driver:
We surpassed our expectations for the event. We have a very limited budget and lacked experience at track. However after a difficult start to the weekend we improved during the first heat races and got some good pace in the kart. I an proud of the NHR Racing Team for bringing home a top 10 finish with the limited budget that we have, that is an accomplishment that we can be very proud of! Also want to say a huge thank you to Gp-racing Denmark Aps. They helped us out massively during the weekend, and without them we would never have had the opportunity to compete in the KZ2 class! As a small team, results like this gives us a lot of hope for the season ahead. I personally have never been more motivated than i am now! We know that there will be challenging times ahead for us, but we are ready for them and we are already preparing for the next DSK event in late May!
